On May 30, the small stage of Vidas Art Arena will host a special evening dedicated to contemporary music that boldly intertwines tradition and modern sound. The band KhanЪ will present their new album “Bitka” (“Battle”) live – a release that gathers the turning points and creative quests of the band over the past few years, turning their journey into a musical tale of strength, community, and drive.
The evening will be opened by the duo Verya – the musical project of soprano Maria Anastasova and harpist Ivayla Todorova. The duo combines world folklore, film scores, and popular video game music, building an ethereal yet impactful atmosphere where voice and harp intertwine as a bridge between the past and present. Their repertoire includes pieces from the universes of The Witcher 3, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Skyrim, as well as original arrangements that have already garnered strong interest from audiences across the country.
Following them, the Greek band BAiLDSA will take the stage – a high-energy Balkan punk-n-roll formation from Thessaloniki, formed in 2008. With their signature explosive mix of Balkan melodies, punk, ska, reggae, dub, rap, and rock, the band is well known for their dynamic concerts throughout Europe. BAiLDSA carry a message of solidarity, freedom, and resistance against social division, making their music both a celebration and a statement.
The culmination of the evening will be the premiere of “Bitka” – the new album by KhanЪ. “Bitka” is a symbol of the path walked side by side with their “squad” over the past two years – for the small and big victories, the sacrifices made for the cause, and the internal and external clashes that build character. From the seashore to the Balkan peak, through dense forests and golden fields, the album carries a sense of a march and moving forward. For more than 15 years, KhanЪ have been building a recognizable style that combines traditional Bulgarian and Balkan music with rock and metal. Their sound blends the bagpipe (gaida), kaval, tambura, oud, and saz with heavy guitar riffs and powerful drums. The themes cover both historical narratives and contemporary social and personal topics, presented through the band’s distinctive artistic signature.
KhanЪ’s march toward a more mature, focused, and emotionally powerful stage in their creative work will culminate in the “Battle” for Sofia on May 30 on the small stage of Vidas Art Arena, alongside the duo Verya and their Greek allies BAiLDSA.
